As i´ve always said, I would have loved to see Deborah and Grace playing the roles of sisters in a film; Kerr as the older one, perhaps in a good drama or in a delicious comedy… I hate that Grace didn´t more films…

Perfect! And have Cary Grant play Deborah Kerr’s husband, while Gene Kelly plays the husband to grace! Yup, that would’da worked beautifully! It may have even fooled people into thinking forever after that they really WERE sisters!

If anyone ever gave Cary Grant (left) a run for his money, it was probably Gene Kelly (right), who,  in many ways, was his musical equivalent. Not only did they have a similar physical appeal, but their careers hit their stride at arguably the same time, between the 1940s and 1950s.

George Clooney's resemblance to Cary Grant more than a coincidence?

What’s in a name? Maybe a lot more than one might think! After realizing that George Clooney and Cary Grant both have the same initials in reverse, I feel like I’ve just uncovered a secret code from the universe!

So, what’s in a name? Well, apparently the destiny of stardom, and an unspoken link between two heartthrobs born decades apart!

Desi was such a natural father! I love him for that! And, that’s mostly why I can’t stand to see him get old, because I can feel what his kids must have been feeling—-that the world wasn’t just about to lose a great man, but that two lucky kids were about to lose a dear dad.

Is it just me or does Greta Garbo look a whole lot like British comedian, Jennifer Saunders—-especially Jennifer in this clip! They have almost the same bone structure AND they seem to be the same with privacy and dealing with the press and fanfare; Saunders is well-known for her ardent disdain for interviews and being around crowds of fans (though no big star has quite broken Garbo’s record for that as yet).

To post or not to post, that is the question...

Ugh, am I alone in this? I am such a perfectionist, so I drive myself mad trying to decide which is the best way to post. Do I include a photo with every little movie blurb? And, if so, should I designate it as a “photo post” and use the unique photo-posting option? Or, should I designate it as a text post (since I plan to include text), and just insert the photo within the body? Uh, so hard to decide!

How DVD distribution *should be*

All DVDs should be released on an “on-demand” bases only. This would eliminate waste from unsold packages and also would guarantee that no one ever have to have an incomplete collection again, due to only 1 or 2 seasons being released! TVShowsOnDVD.com

Given the rate that it takes many plastics to decompose (100s of years as far as I know), we should really be concerned. This, along with film-preservation should be of primary importance to movie-buffs.

Nanny McPhee (2007, 2010)

Both the Nanny McPhee films had AMAZING endings! Simply amazing! However flawed parts of the second film was, the ending totally made up for it! Thank you for sharing your brilliance, Emma Thompson! I wish everyone could have a Nanny McPhee in their lives, to make everything better! : - )

Anyone remember this show from 2005? I like the Soaps that are either funny or Suspense/Thriller in mood. So, I enjoyed this (even though it scared me!!). It was much akin to a 1970s horror-flick, and kept the viewer hooked. However, the show was cancelled by the Fox network after less than a season though, which is odd, considering the success of shows like Revenge, which lacks the heart of this show and just focuses on the fear and violence aspects.

Odd what people ultimately keep on the air. And, considering the rough time Fox has had over the years (in comparison to the other major networks, I’d say the folks at Fox made a big mistake, thus cancelling a show that may have put the network ahead, if they had only given it at least a full season to prove itself.

‎Ratatouille (2008)

‎Ratatouille is the best Disney Pixar movie I have ever seen! I love it more than any computer-animated film! And, I usually don’t like computer-animation!! But, this one rocks, with it’s old-fashioned charm and quaint surroundings! Thank you, Disney! Finally, a computer-animated movie I can appreciate! And, it made me hungry! : - )

Harry's Law (TV series, 2012)

Isn’t it crazy how Kathy Bates got a nomination for a Golden Globe or Emmy, but they (NBC) cancelled her show?? And cancelled it not because of the ratings, but because the network didn’t like the age range that watched the show… Ugh, the youth-obsession of Hollywood!

1000 different ways to make the same movie and TV show...

There are a thousand different ways to see the same picture, and a million different ways to paint it. That’s why I often appreciate re-makes. Looking forward to the Bewitched and The Munstersreboots, coming soon. I’m not saying they will be as good as the originals, but it will be interesting to watch the different interpretations of the shows. Sometimes though, the re-make is better…

Desi Arnaz and politics: a connection?

‎Desi Arnazwas quite possibly the best wheeler-dealer, clever-minded business man there could be! If he could build a TV-empire almost from scratch, imagine what he could have done for this country! I know many folks look down their noses at any connection being made between show-business and politics, but truth be known, they are both born of the same instinctual cloth.

What's the Matter with Helen? (1975)

Just saw another film inspired by one of my very favorites, WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE? [1962]. The type of film that is thought to comprise a sub-genre of its own, called Grand-Guignol.

The one I just saw was called “What’s the Matter with Helen?” and rather than star an expected kooky suspense/thriller/horror queen, like Bette Davis or Joan Crawford, this one starred Debbie Reynolds and Shelley Winters! The violence in this one was too obvious and the fact that it was filmed in color made it even more disturbing. Of all the films that I’ve seen so far inspired by “…Baby Jane.”, I like this one the least. But, it’s still worth a look if you like old Hollywood stars and the mellow 1960s-1970s brand of spooky. On that note, I should warn you that this film has been alleged to have had one of  the worst advertising campaigns in the history of horror film! Once you watch it, you’ll know why.

The Graduate (1967)

What a landmark year 1967 was for films! Was just watching The Graduatefor the very first time tonight, and believe you me, you can definitely tell the Hayes Code had just been abolished! (*_*)

A Child is Waiting (1962)

Watching Judy Garland in A Child Is Waiting. What an emotional and tender-hearted actress she was! Without a word, she lets you know what she’s feeling with a single stare. Such sympathy shines through… Hard to believe she died only about 6 years later.
